La Familia Verde is a coalition of community gardens in the Crotona, East Tremont and West Farms neighborhoods of the Bronx. We take pride in the fact that we are 5 community gardens and 4 rural farmers working together to make this market a huge success. The gardens serve as education, cultural and social resource centers.
When does the market open? The market opens July 11 and runs through November. It is open every Tuesday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Where is the market located? Tremont Park, Between Arthur Ave and La Fontaine Ave in the Bronx.
Does the market accept EBT SNAP Benefits? We honor SNAP, WIC checks, and WIC and Senior FM checks. We also offer Health Bucks — $2 coupons that can be used to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Spend $5 in SNAP benefits and receive a $2 Health Buck.
What makes your market special? Our market is run by community gardeners and we have a slogan as we sing out to our customers “Get your fresh vegetables. We grow’em, you eat em. We grow’em, you eat em!! We take pride in our farmer’s market that no one is denied food if they are hungry, poor or homeless.
